..."I don't take photographs; I create images with light"
Jeff Rowe Artist Statement
I have been involved in photography since 1975 and have enjoyed working with view cameras in the landscape. My latest body of work began in June of 2006, while working at night in Big Bend, Texas. I call this new work Night Magic. I use the landscape as my canvas and I use colored light as my palette. I have been aided in this endeavor by the light of the moon. The challenge of this work has been to find the ideal evocative scene to paint with light, and then choosing the proper hues and intensity. I enjoy both the stillness and the movement of the world in this work. My work reflects the intentional placement of light and is not the result of software.
